1.2 Is RocketLife really free? Where's the catch?
Yes, the RocketLife Software and Sharing Accounts are free - all we ask is that you make just one purchase within a 12-month period. We feel that the quality of the DVD and Photo Books we offer will make this more than worth your while!

Each time you make a purchase, your 12-month account clock will be reset. While your account is active, you get all of RocketLife's cool features, plus your own personal photo-sharing website at www.YourName.RocketLife.com!

1.3 Sounds great, how can I get it?

1.4 What are the System Requirements?
The RocketLife Software requires a Windows PC (Windows 98, ME, 2000, or XP), Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, and an Internet connection (56K modem or better). In the future we will be supporting addtional platforms and browsers.

However, you can feel confident sharing your shows and website with anyone - our Basic Player will work on any computer platform with almost all browsers!  For more details, see our System Requirements.

The Basic Player looks like a traditional "cuts-only" slide-show program, with the addition of displaying titles and photo captions on the border of the photo, plus playing music on most popular browsers. However, the Basic Player doesn't do any of the special effects that the RocketLife Software can, such as moving images or dissolving betwen them.

Section 2: The RocketLife Software

2.1 What is the RocketLife Software?
The RocketLife Software is a plug-in for your Web Browser that enables it to perform high-quality pans, zooms, and dissolves using your digital photos while adding titles, decorative frames, and playing back music with your presentation.  The plug-in also provides easy and powerful tools to touch up and edit your photos with effects like cropping, red-eye removal, monochrome, sepiatone, and rubbing one image into another.  All of these effects are performed in real-time, including real-time airbrush tools. Titles and frames are composited in real-time over your pictures with high-quality text, smooth shadows, and animating textures. Titles, captions, frames, and music can be changed at any time while creating a show with no rendering delays.

2.2 Why does the RocketLife Software use a browser plug-in?
Our vision has always been to bring the impact of television and film to the computer experience. Things that move on screen should never stutter. Dissolves should be smooth. A slow zoom into a picture should appear just like an optical zoom with a real lens. With an experience like this, you forget you are looking at a computer screen and start focusing on the message or story, whether it is your child's last birthday party or a family vacation. Finally, addition, RocketLife must perform well on an average PC, so that you can share your shows with the largest possible audience.

In order to accomplish these objectives, we had to write our own high-performance real-time software. Taking full advantage of our years of experience performing "magic" on computers, we wrote the RocketLife Software and are pleased to see that it accomplishes what we set out to do. An almost universal comment when people first see a RocketLife show is "wow, that looks like a movie" even though only still photos are involved! By eliminating the "computer" look to shows, people can focus on the pictures and music, the content, without other distractions. And by making it a browser plug-in, we can dramatically increase the richness of the website experience.

2.4 Will installing the RocketLife Software affect how files get opened on my computer?
No. The RocketLife Software only runs within your web browser - it does not make any changes to the file associations that determine which programs will load which types of files.

2.5 Isn't it dangerous to let my Web Browser install ActiveX Plug-Ins?
No more or less than installing any other software on your computer. Your web browser is already very likely using several ActiveX Plug-Ins, such as to view Flash animations or play video on webpages in Microsoft, Real, or Quicktime formats.

Microsoft Internet Explorer allows additional features to be added to it through installable software called ActiveX Plug-Ins. When a web page requests these features, the web browser can automatically attempt to download and install the software to your computer. Additionally, ActiveX Plug-Ins can be digitally "signed" to verify that they were not tampered with either by computer viruses or malicious individuals since they were released. ActiveX Plug-Ins can be easily un-installed (see the next item).

In the time since the ActiveX Plug-In standard was developed, some ActiveX Plug-Ins have been misused by products and web sites to gather private information about computer users without their knowledge. We are completely against this practice, and are committed to keeping your information safe and secure. Because of these unscrupulous plug-Ins, some people are extremely wary about installing ActiveX Plug-Ins from companies they don't alreaedy know about.

The RocketLife Software doesn't gather any information about the user except what that user gives it such as login, password, and payment information when the user becomes a RocketLife member. It is the policy of RocketLife not to distribute any customer information to third parties. We recommend users read the Privacy Policy of any product before they use it.
